All Rights Reserved is an interesting dystopian/science fiction story. It’s set in a future controlled by lawyers. From the age of 15, everyone gets fitted with a cuff around their wrist. From that point on, the cuff charges for every word spoken, even most gestures. These forms of expression are protected by strong copyrights, upheld by the lawyers.
Speth, our main character, is just about to give her big speech as she turns 15, when her friend kills himself at her party. His family is in serious debt (Though every family is). Instead of giving her speech and pleasing her sponsors, Speth zips her lips, a gesture that isn’t copyrighted. She vows never to speak again from that moment and becomes the Silent Girl.
