This is Book one of “The Dominion Trilogy”. All three books in the trilogy were available on Kindle Unlimited, so I downloaded all three and started at one!
We open the story by meeting Zoey. She has no last name, and we find out quickly that she’s nearly 21. She lives in some sort of facility that is very strict. Throughout the story, we learn that she doesn’t know her parents, she doesn’t have any siblings, and she’s with other girls in the same boat. There was an event called The Dearth, where no more female babies were being born. I was getting super shades of Handmaid’s Tale vibes. It shares a few similarities with that book, but it’s a very different story. The girls go to school at the ARC (sorry, I can’t remember what it stands for, they say it once early on, then it’s just ARC after that!), and their lives are super controlled. Zoey is friends with some of the girls, and others are total bitches. It’s kinda understandable though, because their lives suck. I’d be a bitch in that situation too. Take away my dogs and my books and my family, and control what I eat, and I’ll cut your face off.
Anyway, lots of stuff happens, that I don’t want to give away, but in order for there to be more than just this one book…. SPOILER ALERT….. (highlight this next sentence to read it)… Zoey escapes from the ARC.
I’m adding in a bunch of spaces so that you won’t be spoiled!

This is Book two of The Dominion Trilogy.
Since Zoey escaped in Book one, and saved some of her friends, they’ve been living fairly happily in the woods. She got shot at the end of book one, and was paralyzed. We open up book two with her running after a spy. She did a whole crap ton of physical therapy in the woods (insert your log tossing training montage here), and can now walk and run again.
Anyway, there’s obviously still the threat of the ARC looming in the distance, but this book tackles another baddie. There’s this disgusting thing called The Fae Trade. It’s basically people kidnapping and selling women to this travelling carnival. If that wasn’t gross enough, men pay money to fight each other to the death to “own” the woman that they win. It’s pretty horrific. Of course, that’s Zoey’s next target.
Again, there’s lots of preparation, some information gathering, and some actual fighting. There’s one part where Zoey goes up the mountain on a chair lift and basically murders lots of people. She was horrified at having done it (even though she did it on purpose), but I was basically cheering in my head when I read it. This book ends with a cliffhanger, so I was super glad I downloaded all three books!! Read these, the first two were really good!
