This is book two in the Society of Gentlemen series. The series changes POV with each book and covers basically the same events from another angle. I loved that and really was angry that I had both books on my kindle because I would have liked to have them both out in front of me so I could flip through and compare the events a little easier.
This story follows another member of the super secret society of gentlemen that prefer gentlemen, this time it is government official and staunch Tory Dominic Frey. Dominic has a lover of sorts. He has a man that he meets every Wednesday for super fun S/M time. But he does not know this man’s name, though from their conversations he can guess he in not a lover of the king. When it is revealed that his lover is the radical pamphlet author Dominic has been trying to chase down things get a little difficult, especially because he has caught a case of the feelings for his domineering partner.
Silas is not particularly interested in s/m but he understands what his lover wants and is happy to make the Tory happy through humiliation and pain. They share books and talk and argue. Until Dominic raids his bookshop.
This book is lots of fun. It has a strong story and really explores the political angle, while also featuring an interesting pairing. I am not really into s/m (or m/m before discovering this author thanks to cannonball), but Charles has a way of making any pairing and their particular peccadilloes hot.
