I feel like I start every Insanity book with “I have no idea what’s happening”, or something along those lines. It’s just true for every one of them. Alice travels backwards and forwards in time. She’s trying to prevent the main thing that started all of this madness – the bus accident. The beginning of book 1 talks about Alice going to the Radcliffe Asylum because she crashed a bus and killed all of her classmates (including her boyfriend).
Alice travels forward in time to find the six keys. She’s being basically blackmailed by Mr. Tick and Mrs. Tock, who work for Time. Yeah, take that in. So anyway, Alice is in the future, and she has two little kids and a husband. She’s inside some kind of compound, and she’s not sure what’s going on. She escapes the compound and goes back into the crazy “real” world. She finds the Pillar eventually, and Jack, who is currently possessed by the Cheshire. Also, she can’t stay in the future too long or she’ll die. She finds the Mock Turtle, who is supposed to have the keys, but he doesn’t. I have no idea what is happening!
So then Alice goes to the past to try and stop the bus accident. Unfortunately she ends up two days late in the asylum. She tries to escape and gets her legs broken. She finds out that she’s actually the Real Alice, but she’s also evil. She’s been drugging herself to forget that she was evil. By the end, she basically fakes her own death, and I LITERALLY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS HAPPENING. Again though, these books are so freaking quick, and I do want to know how they all wrap up, and they’re free on Kindle Unlimited, so I just keep chugging along…
