Ok so this is book 4, and I’m still super confused. Alice and the Pillar are working together again to save the world. But the Pillar (the hookah smoking caterpillar / insane serial killer) has ulterior motives. I really have no idea what they are. Even when it seems like he’s screwing over Alice, he’s usually saving her. He’s not a good guy, but he doesn’t really seem to be a bad guy either? I don’t know.
Anyway, there’s a plague sweeping the world. Everyone who bought a hookah toy gets this plague where they have to tell the truth. Obviously this causes issues with everyone, and there is lots of violence.
Alice and the Pillar are traveling all over the world to try and find the Scientist who cooked up the plague. Oh and I forgot – there are now two groups at play. Black Chess is the bad guys, and the Inklings are the good guys. Apparently it’s another Lewis Carroll thing. Speaking of him, he’s got an evil twin / manifestation who released the plague and requested its creation.
Apparently Dr. Truckle, who is Alice’s doc from the asylum is a Wonderlander, because the Cheshire tries to possess him at one point, and he can’t. Curiouser and curiouser!
Like I said in earlier reviews, I don’t know what the heck is happening, but I like the characters, the books are super quick, and free with my Kindle Unlimited. So it looks like I’ll keep going! Oh and I’m only using lyrics from White Rabbit as my titles from here on out.
