August Shroeder is trying to complete a trip to Yellowstone that he had planned to take with his nineteen year old son, that is before his sun passed away. Instead of making the trip with his son, he is taking the trip with his son’s ashes. Unfortunately, he runs into problems right away, and he ends up at a mechanics to fix his vehicle. It now looks like this trip that he had been saving for and planned on taking, wasn’t going to happen. With the repairs needed, he would not have enough money to make the trip. August, needed help in order to make the trip happen.
The mechanic working also needed help. He’s looking at a ninety day prison sentence, and has a few days to find someone to take his two young boys. If he can’t find someone to watch his children, they will end up with the state, something that he doesn’t want to happen. So the mechanic offers August a deal, you take my sons with you on your trip, and I won’t charge you for the repairs. If August takes him up on the deal, they both get the help they need. August decides to take him up on his offer, and takes the two boys with him on his trip. Throughout the trip, they see new places, eventually reaching the final destination of Yellowstone. Along their journey, problems arise, and August is tasked with solving them.
This book kept me guessing as to what would happen next. How were they going to solve the problem that they just came across. About halfway through, I thought I knew exactly what was going to happen in the second half of the book, only to be surprised with what I thought was an even more perfect second half than may guess.
