So for some reason, I’m really into all Alice in Wonderland stories. Alice in Deadland also has zombies (a virus causes “The Rising”), so for me that’s a win-win. I think I downloaded this Kindle book like five years ago. I read all of book 1, and loved it. I’m pretty sure I’m going to read it again to finish out my Cannonball this year. The problem was book 2. I think it stalled me, so I never got to book 3 (this one). Conveniently, book 3 is a prequel, so it’s a perfect jumping off point to get back to reading book 1!
I read some reviews on Amazon about this trilogy (which I think now has 5 or 6 books?) before I read book 3. I was trying to remember why I never read it back in 2011 when I downloaded it. I think the author’s writing style might be a little simplistic, but I remember liking the story. Ok, I just checked again, and there are apparently 8 books. They’re all on Kindle unlimited, so guys – prepare to hear about the octology (that’s trilogy of 8, right?)! Anyway, book 3 is really a set of four shorts that introduce four of the main characters in the Alice in Deadland world. Dr. Protima is one of the scientists semi-involved in the virus that caused The Rising. Bunny Ears is a guy who helps get a girl to safety, and also helps out Dr. Protima. Chen is in the Chinese army and in charge of deciding the fate of his men and country. The final short is Alice’s parents, while Alice is still in utero.
It got me pumped to get back into the stories, especially now that I know there are 8!
