So this is Book 10 in the Lucas Davenport / Prey series. For some reason I had a hard time finishing this one. I think it was because it was *GASP* a real hardcover book, and not a paperback or Kindle book. I read my Kindle nearly every night in my bed, so I fly through my ebooks pretty quickly. I also usually have a paperback in my desk or my purse in case I have some time at work or wherever I am. I refuse to cart around a hardcover book. I’ll have to check my library to see if they have the rest of the Prey series electronically. I guess I’m just too lazy (or not lazy enough?) for a real old fashioned hardcover book.
Anyway, Lucas is dealing with a lady hitman for the mob in this book. She will also just be a hitman (hitlady?) for pay too. It doesn’t have to be a mob connection. In fact, the murder that starts this all isn’t mob-related in any way. It’s the standard love triangle. They made a pretty cheesy TV movie about this book. Gibbs from NCIS and Elle from Criminal Minds were in it. I know I watched it on TV a few years ago. It was super. Anyway, this lawyer named Carmel wants her crush’s wife to be murdered so that she can have him. Of course that can’t be without a trail, so problems arise.
The rest of the book is a kind of cat and mouse game between Lucas and the ladies. I really liked how this one ended though!
