Ok, so like my title says, I think this is the last book in the series. At least, I can’t find any other books with the CSU, or even by D.H. Dublin. I actually really liked the characters, so I’d enjoy another few books, but since this one (book 3) was written in 2008, I’m not holding my breath for another one to come out.
So just like in the other 2 CSU books, Madison is investigating crimes, and going rogue. In this one though, she gets a love interest. I guess I didn’t realize how refreshing it was in the other two books that she didn’t have a boyfriend. She did flirt a bit in the first one, but she was never defined by a man. She’s a tough broad and a freaking SCIENTIST! Anyway, she does get some nookie in this book. It sounds like she really needs it too.
The story is quite complicated. It takes place over multiple towns and jurisdictions, and in the course of a week. There are cops competing for the lead, cops being lazy (well just 1), and of course Madison doing things that CSU lab techs reallllly shouldn’t be doing.
I don’t want to spoil the story by giving too much away. Lots of stuff that doesn’t seem like it should be is intertwined, and there are a plethora of weird details. One caution though – there are parts at the beginning to middle of this book that are super yuck. This was my lunchtime read book, and there were moments where I was genuinely nauseous. Please take a look at my reading history (zombies, murders, etc), and note how bad the details have to be!
