Do you have problems? Any problems?
Do you need advice? About anything?
Have you ever wished, probably around 2am, that you could sit at a table with a mom (maybe your mom, maybe the imaginary mom you wish you had) who would make you a cup of tea or coffee and sit across from you and call you honeybun and be so nice and believe in you so much but also tell you exactly what you needed to do to get your shit straight?
Surely it’s not just me that’s had that thought in the midst of adulting crises.
If you have ever wanted that, go immediately purchase this book. If you can help it, don’t get it from the library. I am a diehard library aficionado because I’ve had to quell my bibliophile fantasies of hoarding books out of respect for my small apartment and small budget. Honestly, I don’t think I even own 50 books because I just don’t have space and can’t justify the money. I own a tiny handful of very special novels and reference books (parenting, etc.) that I will legitimately refer to for years – and that’s about it. I wasn’t even done with Tiny Beautiful Things before I had bought a copy.
I’m not even telling you what it’s about or the nature of the book. It doesn’t matter. What will this book do for you? It will be the closest thing to your mom in the kitchen fantasy you’re going to get. (Unless your mom is just like that.) (Please tell me I’m not the only one who thinks about that.) It will answer questions you had about yourself and right and wrong and love and grieving that you weren’t aware you had. At the risk of being hyperbolic, it is in fact like a hot bowl of homemade soup for your soul…with a side of perfect advice, a giant hug, and a small kick in the ass when needed. Go read it.
