So I can’t remember how I found this book. I think it might have been around Amazon Prime Day (if you ask my sister, who is also my next door neighbor, and we share a porch – everyday is Prime Day for me) where Amazon had a sale on their Kindle Unlimited plan. I can’t remember how much I paid, but it was significantly less than the normal price, and it allows you to take out up to 10 kindle books at a time from their Prime Members Library. I downloaded this book, and the next two in the series. I’m not sure if it’s a trilogy, or the start of something bigger though.
Anyway, I guess I didn’t read through the whole description of the book (shocker!), and I thought it was just a “standard” murder mystery. It took a little while for me to realize that there was a supernatural element. What I liked about that was it wasn’t crammed into the story. The main character Jennifer is a detective. Oh, this whole thing takes place in London too, so there are fun word things (word things?) that I liked that only the British say. Jennifer has had some sort of breakdown in the past, and she’s busted down to a lower tier police station (something like that). She gets these “feelings”, which are very close to normal cop intuitions. She just seems to be a little more open to the supernatural stuff.
I don’t want to give anything away, because there are a few things you learn throughout that are interesting. I’m also interested to see where some of the threads from this book lead in the next one. There are of course murders, and they’re creepy. That’s really all I need!
