Summary: Eadlyn is continuing on with her selection after her mother’s heart attack, Ahren leaving her a harsh though true note and eloping. Her father can’t sleep or do anything besides watch America, so it is up to Eadlyn to be the acting Regent as well as finish her Selection. However, she may have more allies than she realizes.
I love Kiera Cass way too much!! Her writing is so wonderful and every time I’m sucked into the beautiful world she’s created. The Crown was no exception. Immediately I was drawn into Eady’s world and what a world it is. Eady is not the same ice pick she used to be. It’s amazing the transformation she makes from The Heir to The Crown. I loved her in the Heir too, so <3.
While Eady is opening up more and becoming kinder, she is still my sassy little darling. After all no one is more powerful than her ;). It only took until chapter 2 for someone to doubt her strength and her comeback was wonderful, smart and right on! Eadlyn takes a big step in working for her kingdom in this book and I loved seeing her dedication to Illea. She truly wanted what was best for them, but didn’t know how to give it.
As for the romance, it did suffer a little bit since Eadlyn was busy a lot of the time. But I loved the romance that was in this book. It was adorable and precious and lovely. I’m so happy with who she picked too!! Even though the romance was not as much as I hoped for, I loved all the friendships Eadlyn developed with the boys and that was just as precious to me as the romantic bits.
I thought that the romance was interwoven with the affairs of the State quite well. It’s not all flirting and it’s not all work. There’s also time for family, and Maxon gets in some great dad jokes. All in all, a wonderful end to the series, though I still want more. I love this family and I want to read about everything they do! <3
