Summary: This story is about a mage who is prophesied to save the Realm. Out of all the elemental mages, only she can summon lightning, which makes her dangerous and extremely powerful. Atlantis, the evil corporation-like entity that controls the crown, wants Iolanthe and her power for themselves. However, Prince Titus, the Master of the Domain, has his own plans for Iolanthe. Namely saving her from Atlantis and hoping she’ll help him destroy Atlantis and all it stands for. Neither of them expects to fall for one another.
This is the first book in The Elemental Trilogy and if they are all as action packed as The Burning Sky, I’ll never be bored. The story is rife with tension, from Iolanthe pretending to be a boy, to the clashing of Titus and the workers of Atlantis. Titus walks a fine line in the story of arrogance and overt rebellion to Atlantis.
I enjoyed this book this book for many reasons. One is that Iolanthe is a strong female character and I absolutely love that. Two, Titus and Iolanthe work together, not just for the same thing, but as an actual team! The team dynamic was great, because it wasn’t like one of them was trying to power play or be like “I’m way better than you, watch this!” Lastly, this book was action packed and the plot was almost always moving forward. There were some boring parts, but it helped smooth the flow of the story from crazy the characters might die fight scenes to hide at this school and pretend you’re not an all-powerful mage.
If you’re a fan of magic or fantasy then definitely check out this book!
