So my kid has been getting into Star Wars lately. We’ve been working our way through the movies, of course. And then there’s the Scholastic book sales at the school, every other month or so. And they had the boxed set of the junior novelizations of all six movies. Can’t think of anything that would make a seven-year-old boy more excited to read. We’re reading them together, but I’m doing most of it, so I claim that I can claim these books as fully read by me for Cannonball purposes.
There’s really no point in me telling anyone the plot of the book, since it’s precisely as stupid as the movie. The good news about the novelization is that my kid’s a better actor than the kid who played young Anakin, and gives way more expressive line readings. The bad news is that it’s a novelization of a terrible movie.
Not much else to say, really. It takes a while, reading one or two chapters a night, but between these books and some of the expanded universe novels, I’m beginning to know more about the Star Wars world than the real one.
