Earlier this year, I read the Husband’s Secret. Given the strong reviews, I expected to enjoy it far more than I did. Instead, I found the characters stereotypical and the conclusion lacking. In spite of this, after hearing great things about it, I decided to read Big Little Liesanyways and am I ever glad I did. Like The Husband’s Secret, the story explores the hidden intrigues of parents at a seemingly wholesome school. While there may seem to be some overlap between the two books, because they’re both about the lives and intrigues of elementary school parents, the two books were substantially different in that Big Little Lies felt more genuine, the characters were more compelling, and the conclusion was more satisfactory.
Big Little Lies follows the lives of four families leading up to a tragic school trivia night. While the reader knows that someone died, their identity, the identity of the suspects and all the potential motives are slowly unearthed as the story progresses. Read More…
