Obligatory excuse about Amazon Kindle Daily Deals here.
Y’all are in luck, though. I bought 2, but I accidentally read the second one first and now I have zero desire to read the first. My bad, your gain. I just … look, guys, I’m a sucker for the series. It’s my ultimate guilty pleasure show. And it’s GREAT if you wanna play the mustache drinking game. So at least you got something out of this “review”. You’re welcome.
Primary takeaway: the show is way better than the books. Plus, it stars a whole host of beautiful men like only the CW could find so there’s that. I think at this point, the two have hit a pretty serious fork in the road and really share nothing but character names. I have not seen this particular storyline on the small screen.
The book was an easy enough read, great if you’re killing time on public transportation. The whole thing was tinged with a MAJOR character death from the previous installment, so I was pretty bummed that I read them out of order because that might actually have been interesting. While some young adult novels, like Hunger Games or Harry Potter, are written to appeal to audiences of all ages, reading Vampire Diaries just made me feel like I was twelve.
Not like I was reading something meant for a twelve-year-old
